Welcome

It has been nine years since Granollers first became the headquarters of local television, and since the last MAC event, of local radio. During this time we have seen how the Audiovisual Market in Catalonia has consolidated and grown, becoming what it is today, an unmissable appointment for all agents in the audiovisual sector. Here we find a point for meeting, reflection and debate, a space where we can exchange contents and technology. In short, a space with its gaze fixed on recent technological changes that involve us all, such as the arrival of DTT and the imminent digital switchover, but also to talk about other questions that affect local media communication.

And this appointment, as it had to be, is at the Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts, the place that will soon be the headquarters of municipal media and that will be closely linked to the audiovisual sector. A space with a lot of history, but also a great future ahead of it.

I invite all of you to participate in this 9th Audiovisual Market of Catalonia, which I am very sure will be a great success.

A common space for local television

The Consorci del Mercat Audiovisual de Catalunya, a common space for local television in Catalonia throughout the year, opens its doors for two days to hold the Audiovisual MAC08: the most important Technology Fair, Contents Market and debating forum for the local audiovisual sector. This meeting encourages the synergies that strengthen the sector.

The Audiovisual MAC stands out as a fair that sets trends with its commitment to bring together contents and technology in a single space, promoting innovation in the sector while catering for its needs.

One of the protagonists will be the progressive implementation of local DTT around the territory. Communication, culture and cultural diversity will also centre the debate.

Audiovisual contents are of capital importance and the Audiovisual MAC wants to promote them by making them protagonists of the pitching sessions. These sessions will give rise to the winners of the Audiovisual MAC Prizes, created to incentivise innovative and quality audiovisual production of the kind that generates audiovisual culture.

Along the same lines is the creation of the I Exhibition of Programmes for Local Television.

All this will be joined by many other new incorporations, thanks to the consolidation of the market and its unstoppable growth, which has led to a major increase in the exhibition space used in recent years. The Audiovisual MAC is growing thanks to the support it receives from the institutions and the entire local television sector. A great deal of work has already been done but there is still with a long way to go, requiring the participation of everyone concerned.
